On the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of the composer’s death, Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, the X edition of 200.Com A project for the city, will be on stage in the Arena of the Teatro Sociale Como, inaugurating the Festival Como Città Della Musica.
To take care of the direction will be Valentina Carrasco, an established Argentine director in her first work with AsLiCo, who recently debuted with a big success at Teatro Regio in Turin with the new setup La fanciulla del West by Puccini and who has won last year´s Abbiati Prize of musical critic for La favorite by Donizetti.
Alongside her, Mauro Tinti will sign sets and costumes, who the audience has already had the opportunity to know in Jacopo Spirei’s Nabucco in the Arena of Teatro Sociale in 2017.
”Turandot, cold, cruel, unachievable. A woman who prefers bachelorhood and her individual freedom to the nineteenth-century myth of romantic love of married women submissive to their husband’s decisions. Personal freedom that she defends with blood and fire, without giving up, until she becomes a ruthless dictator. – Director Carrasco says – Puccini in his latest masterpiece, adds to the list of his female archetypes the most extreme, most modern, almost inconceivable in his time: a woman of power.”
Alongside the director, the other fundamental figure will be the conductor. Turandot will be conducted by M° Jacopo Brusa, who Como and OperaLombardia spectators have just had the opportunity to meet with Verdi’s Don Carlo in recent months.
“I am extremely happy to be able to celebrate, on the centenary of his death, Giacomo Puccini with Turandot in a special context such as that linked to the 200th anniversary of Como! – says Maestro Brusa – Puccini’s last opera is, in fact, the most “choral” of all. It is certainly the most spectacular! Perfect, therefore, to pay homage, all together, to the greatest Italian composer of the 20th century.”
Together with the creative team and professional singers, obviously will not miss the Choir 200.Com with more than 200 amateur singers, heart of the participative project of AsLiCo, directed by M° Massimo Fiocchi Malaspina.

As for the main Opera Season, the opera performances will be preceded by the PrimaGiovani, on 25 June at 9.30 p.m., reserved for under 30s, which can be purchased at the box office. Tickets are €10, presenting a valid ID.

IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER
In case of unfavorable weather, Arena performances will be held on the same evening inside Teatro Sociale, without sets. If the performance is interrupted after the beginning of the show, because of bad weather conditions, tickets are non-refundable.
