Sala Pasta

An integral part of the foyer is the room dedicated to Giuditta Pasta, the memorable opera singer born in Saronno in 1797, who performed at the Teatro Sociale twice. Giuditta Negri’s voice (the surname by which she made history, Pasta, is her husband’s) inspired musicians such as Bellini, Chopin and Rossini as well as numerous literary figures. She performed twice in our theatre: in 1829 with Rossini’s Tancredi and in 1832 with a concert that enchanted and captivated the Como audience.
In this room visitors can admire some busts portraying Giuditta and her relatives, as well as some historical memorabilia belonging to the great singer of the Romantic period.
