performance of MusicAccessibile for string quartet, voice and sign language
Possible Worlds – direction and dramaturgy by Manuel Renga, scenes by Stefano Zullo – is a co-production between La Toscanini, Fondazione Haydn and AsLiCo.
The highly accessible performance with audio description and surtitles for string quartet, voice and LIS (Italian Sign Language) is part of the pilot project Tutte e tutti per 1, winner of the grant awarded by the Ministry of Culture for the purpose of including artists with disabilities in professional contexts. It is aimed at children (6 – 10 years old), schools and families in the reference regions of the three proposing organisations (Emilia-Romagna, Trentino Alto-Adige and Lombardy).
Possible Worlds tell of the meeting between languages: the musical language and the body language at the beginning are not able to communicate. Later, the Lady tries to transform the music in something visible and in parallel, the Traveller translates it into movement through his body. Thus, in an adventurous way, the process of constructing a ‘visual music’ proceeds as long as it succeeds: in fact, the Traveller will have the most beautiful experience of his life listening to music through touch and interpreting that music through his body. The ending is a surprise and will be a big party that will involve the whole audience: the twinning between the two Worlds will come to an end, apparently distant from each other, but in substance very close.
The protagonists are soprano Francesca Mannino (The Lady of Music) and LIS performer Diana Anselmo (The Traveler) who will be accompanied by a String Quartet.
The programme includes arias by Gioachino Rossini (Semiramide and La Cenerentola), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Le nozze di Figaro) and pieces from Un modo ci sarà and Mondi Possibili by Simona Iuorio.
In its implementation phase, the three institutions made a call for the selection of an under-35 composer with disabilities to be included in the artistic team of the project Tutte e tutti per 1 (All for 1): the winner was Simona Iuorio, who created two pieces for the show on the theme of transformation and diversity in addition to transcribing the other music for string quartet and voice. On the communication front, the show sees the collaboration of ALI (Accessibility, Languages, Inclusion) and the University of Macerata.
The show will have a free entry upon booking starting from Friday 12 July at 10.00.
Reservations expire 15 minutes before the start of the concert.
The event will be held indoors.
