New setup
For the third title of the Opera Season, the Sociale has chosen one of Verdi’s best-loved titles: Rigoletto. It is directed by Matteo Marziano Graziano, a young Berlin-based avant-garde opera director known for his innovative and transformative artistic approach. With a deep knowledge of contemporary performance, installation art and experimental music theatre, Graziano has established himself as a visionary queer choreographer, theatre director, performer and interdisciplinary artist. The director will stage a contemporary Rigoletto, touching on themes such as disability, body consciousness, environmental sustainability, with costumes made from recycled materials. On the podium will return one of the most important Italian conductors of his generation, Maestro Alessandro D’Agostini. Interpreting Gilda will be Bianca Tognocchi from Como, winner of the AsLiCo Competition in past editions.
