Jazzin’ Around Baroque è un incontro, un incontro tra i linguaggi, tra le persone, tra le culture. Prende vita dall’osservazione delle numerose caratteristiche in comune tra jazz e barocco: la libertà espressiva affidata all’interprete, la possibilità di improvvisare, la presenza del basso continuo, lo “swing” e le tematiche; tutti elementi che, secondo Paola Quagliata, anima del concerto, avvicinano due generi solo temporalmente lontani. Così, seguendo il filo della tematica amorosa, le cui innumerevoli sfumature sono rimaste invariate dal 1500 ad oggi, Quagliata ha deciso di far confluire nel genere “contenitore” per eccellenza (il Jazz) le melodie di Vivaldi, Haendel, Caccini, Purcell e Monteverdi in un progetto che unisce il mondo antico a quello moderno, Henry Purcell a Duke Ellington e Antonio Vivaldi a Sonny Rollins.
Jazzin ‘Around Baroque is a meeting, a meeting between languages, between people, between cultures. It takes life from the observation of the many characteristics in common between jazz and baroque: the expressive freedom entrusted to the interpreter, the possibility of improvisation, the presence of the “basso continuo”, the “swing” and the themes; all elements that, according to Paola Quagliata, the soul of the concert, approach two genres only temporally distant. So, following the thread of the love theme, whose innumerable nuances have remained unchanged from 1500 to today, Quagliata has decided to merge into the ultimate genre “container” (the Jazz) the melodies of Vivaldi, Haendel, Caccini, Purcell and Monteverdi in a project that combines the ancient world with the modern one, Henry Purcell to Duke Ellington and Antonio Vivaldi to Sonny Rollins.
